Richard J. Meagher, MD

Dr. Meagher is a board-certified neurosurgeon practicing the full gamut of neurosurgery with an emphasis on minimally invasive spinal surgery. Dr. Meagher earned a degree in psychobiology from Swarthmore College in 1992. His senior thesis focused on facilitating recovery from brain injury. While attending Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, he engaged in research focused on degenerative processes involved in diseases like Parkinson’s. He graduated from medical school with Alpha Omega Alpha honors and moved on to perform his neurological surgery training at Temple Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Meagher’s training included award-winning research into the mechanisms of recovery from traumatic brain injury. His clinical research has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, and he has contributed textbook chapters and presented research at numerous international meetings. As a member of the North American Spine Society Evidence-Based Guideline Development Committee, he currently helps develop guidelines for spinal disease treatment.

Dr. Meagher has become a world expert in minimally invasive surgical spine techniques. He has traveled extensively to perform surgery for patients in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio and Missouri.

Dr. Meagher and his wife, Lisamarie, actively support their five children in schooling and extracurricular pursuits. His family members are sports enthusiasts who enjoy fitness and exercise regularly.
