TJ Citta-Pietrolungo, D.O., is a board certified Physiatrist specializing in Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Born in Philadelphia, Dr. Citta was raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She attended Villanova University where she was a nationally ranked synchronized swimmer and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. Following her passion for Sports Medicine, she completed a Masters Program in Exercise Physiology at Temple University. Thereafter, she designed and implemented a program of fitness for the elderly, which was incorporated into area nursing homes and senior centers.
Dr. Citta graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. She interned at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 1990 she completed a Residency Program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital. She furthered her education with subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric Rehabilitation at The A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Delaware. She is a published author in this field.
In 1991, Dr. Citta took the position as Director of the Program of Pediatric Rehabilitation, Health Hill Hospital for Children (now the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital). She was instrumental in advocating for the rights of disabled children and their families in Cleveland, Ohio, through the PEACE (People Empowered Against Child Endangerment) Program. Dr. Citta was also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland – a position she continues to hold today.
In 2001, Dr. Citta returned to this area where she became a Clinical Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. There she treated patients who suffered from neuromuscular disorders and traumatic brain injury.
In 2004, Dr. Citta founded New Life Rehab Medicine, PC, in Haddonfield, NJ where she furthered her expertise in Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She is affiliated with Virtua Health Systems and the Rehabilitation Hospital of South Jersey. Others areas of specialization include Neuromuscular Medicine and Head Injury Rehabilitation.
Dr. Citta is a past committee member for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is an ardent supporter of the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.
